Carpooling is a great way to get to and from work. You can save money, reduce wear and tear on your vehicle, and help the environment by reducing pollution. Not to mention that sharing the ride will help take some of the stress out of driving. When you share the ride, you arrive at your destination feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. Best of all, your commuting cost could drop by 50 percent and you may be eligible to save on insurance costs. Use the Cost Calculator to figure out how much you currently spend on your commute. You may be surprised at how much you could be saving! And don't worry if you don't have a car. There are plenty of people in our database who are willing to do all the driving.

Tips for Getting Started
1. Get a group of friends and co-workers together who have a similar work schedule. Or register in our online ridematch database. You may also download a rideshare application and mail or fax back to Commuter Services.
2. Plan ahead! Make arrangements to meet potential carpool partners ahead of time to map out all the details.
3. Be open-minded but establish some ground rules.
4. Do something fun! Bring donuts once in a while or meet for lunch. Ridesharing can be a great way to meet people and establish friendships.

If you carpool (or vanpool) two or more days per week and are registered online in the ridematching database, you are eligible to participate in the Emergency Ride Home Program. So don't forget to register! So what are you waiting for? Complete the online ridematch application or call the Commuter Services office at 1.866.585.RIDE. Then, you'll receive a match list with others who live and work near you.
